1 - Livestock and Dairy Development Trainings: CNFA is implementing USAID funded ‘Improving Livelihoods and Enterprise Development’ (ILED) project. We are training 650 farmers supported by CNFA in Improved Livestock Management and Dairy Enterprise Development in AJK and NWFP. The assignment includes developing a Training Manual and other training material, training of Community Master Trainers, and training 650 men and women farmers in the community.
2 - End of Project Evaluation: Relief International is implementing the ‘Livelihood Restoration’ component of the USAID funded ‘Improving Livelihoods and Enterprise Development’ project worth US $11 Million. We are carrying out end of project evaluation by gathering first hand quantitative and qualitative information. The evaluation will assess effectiveness of project implementation and analyze levels to which livelihoods were restored through agriculture and livestock distributions. The evaluation will consolidate Lessons Learned for Relief International’s upcoming programs in Pakistan.
3- Women Employment Concerns Mainstreaming: Assisting the International Labor Organization in mainstreaming Women’s Employment Concerns (WEC) into the curriculum of Pakistan Manpower Institute (PMI), a training institute set up under the Federal Ministry of Labor and Manpower.
4- Agricultural Marketing and Economics: The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations is implementing the USAID funded project titled ‘Food Security/Poverty Alleviation in Arid Agriculture Project’ in three districts of Balochistan. Our Managing Director is leading the Marketing and Economics component of the project, ensuring that appropriate research, development and extension activities are undertaken to meet community identified needs. The assignment involves conducting value chain analysis of various horticultural produce by analyzing market price trends, assessing pre-farm gate and marketing costs, organizing local marketing events, developing community linkages with traders for national and international exports, and facilitating farmer visits to markets.
5- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA): We are assisting Save the Children US to conduct an EIA of three sites for school re-construction. The project is funded by CIDA to rehabilitate the educational infrastructure in the earthquake affected areas of N.W.F.P. The sites are located in District Battagram.
6- Fundraising Strategy Development: We have been retained by Oxfam G.B. to develop the long term financial sustainability of one of its local partners. The assignment entails the development of a Fundraising Strategy and design of donor proposals in the area of International Trade and WTO.
Recently Concluded Projects
1- Impact Assessment: World Food Program (WFP) of the United Nations has implemented the Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation (PRRO) in the earthquake affected areas of N.W.F.P and AJK. Between November 2007 and January 2008, we evaluated the impact of livelihood initiatives. Program components include infrastructure rehabilitation activities and income generating activities such as kitchen gardening, nursery raising, etc.
1- Value Chain Consultant: CNFA is implementing the three year USAID funded project titled ‘Integrated Livelihoods and Enterprise Development’ (I-LED) in the earthquake affected districts of Pakistan. Between November 2007 and March 2008, a team of six consultants from our firm assisted the program in development of dairy enterprises through community mobilization, installation of village level milk cooling tanks, and market linkage development.
